The Cold Store is an iconic 4 storey Victorian facility close to the Bullring Centre in Birmingham. This listed building was originally constructed to house perishable items from the market while waiting to be sold, being kept cool with cold water piped throughout the space. The project brief was to create a new regional centre for the Prince’s Trust to accommodate training space for young people, along with general office space for the staff team. Due to it’s listed status the interior was to be left as exposed as possible, whilst having a full category A&B fitout to include all services for the building. This informed the interior aesthetic, with the material palette limited to simple industrial finishes, white walls, exposed services and birch faced ply joinery.
