Who we are

Founded in 2003, our practice—formerly known as Bradley McClure Architects—has evolved into McClure Architects. Led by one of the original founders, we remain a small, design-led team committed to thoughtful, people-focused architecture.

Our work spans residential, commercial, and community sectors, though our strength lies in the diversity of our portfolio. From modest house extensions to large-scale football stadiums, from film studios to specialist schools, we bring the same level of care, curiosity, and creativity to every project.

What sets us apart is simple: we listen. We believe that great architecture begins with understanding. For larger or more complex projects, we facilitate a series of workshops—developed over many years—that help uncover the deeper story behind a brief. These sessions allow us to engage meaningfully with individuals and groups, ensuring that every voice is heard and every perspective considered.

We are deeply interested in how environments shape experience—how spaces influence the way we feel, interact, and live. Whether it’s the quality of light, a framed view, the presence of nature, or the changing weather, we see architecture as something organic: rooted in its setting and responsive to its users. Our aim is to create places that foster connection, bring moments of delight, and support everyday life in meaningful ways.

This ethos is particularly important in our community work. We are passionate about projects that seek to make a positive difference—whether through charities, churches, or schools supporting children with special educational needs. These projects reflect our belief that well-designed environments can enhance wellbeing, strengthen communities, and enable people to thrive.

Over the years, we’ve worked with a wide range of clients, including universities, churches, climbing gyms, pubs and restaurants, and private individuals. A notable collaboration has been with The King's Trust, for whom we delivered six regional centres across the UK.

Today, we continue to work nationwide, offering a full architectural service across all stages of the Royal Institute of British Architects Plan of Work. Whatever the scale or sector, our focus remains the same: to listen carefully, design thoughtfully, and create spaces that truly make a difference.
