The Lighthouse Project, Newcastle
The Lighthouse Project is a restored and repurposed historic church building in the middle of Byker Estate in Newcastle. It serves as a space made available to local charities and community groups which need facilities to accommodate their programmes, and has been specifically designed with children and young peoples charities in mind. The build project involved the restoration and refurbishment of St Michaels church, along with a modern timber-framed extension which serves a reception and dedicated youth space. The works also included a new MUGA pitch for sports activities and extensive landscaping to provide a forest school and outdoor play space.
