Originally part of the Anchor Bar in Newcastle, Co. Down, the proprietor felt it deserved its own identity and location. This involved restoration, conversion and fitout of a disused residential property overlooking the Irish Sea. Its name references a visit from Isambard Brunel, the famous civil engineer who arrived to assist in the re-floating of one of his ships that had grounded in Dundrum Bay. The project involved creation of a double height dining area with the removal of a floor, and on its second floor includes the extension of Hutt Hostel with which it shares a party wall.
